Why almonds?

Almonds grow on a tree called the almond tree and are essentially the kernel of the tree's stone. The origin of the almond tree is not completely known, but it probably originated in Central Asia, where it later spread to other continents.

The vast majority of almonds are grown in the USA in California. As much as three-quarters of production is said to be involved. The remaining almonds come mostly from Spain.
