Try the huge coffee beans with a pronounced lime acidity that spills over into the taste of walnuts. More
Maragogype coffee is also known as "elephant coffee" - this nickname is due to its enormously large beans, which are up to 2/3 larger than classic beans. Maragogype coffee comes from the Jinotega and Matagalpa regions, where it is grown at high altitudes on volcanic soils under the shade of inga and banana trees.
Nicaraguan Maragogype has a distinct initial lime acidity that gradually translates into a walnut aftertaste with hints of cocoa and spice.
SHG - Strictly High Grown indicates that the coffee has been grown at high altitudes in excess of 1300 m above sea level. EP - European Preparation means that the coffee has been sorted and stripped of defective beans.
From the current cupping of our barista
The delicate creamy chocolate taste will surprise you as much as the size of the beans. On the tongue you will be tickled by the pleasant acidity of fresh lime and orange, the body flows into the flavours of walnuts in caramel and on the after taste we find a slight cocoa bitterness with hints of cloves.
