Compared to green mate, the aroma and taste of roasted mate is more earthy with a hint of woody aroma from roasting on wood. However, the other characteristics are the same as green. Mate is the national drink of Argentina made from the herb Yerba mate. It is also called a natural energy drink actively contributing to weight loss. It is traditionally prepared in a gourd and sipped through a metal straw called a bombilla.
